I was first introduced to the concept of investing by my Grandfather, Rusty Poepl, when I was in the second grade. Rusty gave me some shares of stock and he taught me how to track the performance of my stock in the business section of the local paper in the days before the internet. Every week we checked the stock price and Rusty would use these moments to teach me something new about investing such as how dividends work or the power of compounding returns. Eventually, I began to understand that by investing, my money was working for me. I was hooked.
My career at Vermillion Bank, and later Vermillion Wealth Management, began in July of 2003. Prior to joining the bank, I received a degree in business from the University of St. Thomas in 2000 and a law degree from Hamline University School of Law in 2003.
I was born and raised in Vermillion and I never made it far from home. In fact, I still live in Vermillion in the home I was raised in with my wife Anna and our four children: Grace, Jon, Charlie and Madeline.
